Houston-based Waste Management will lay off 700 employees, but few, if any, of the cuts will affect Louisiana, a company official said Thursday.
“Most of these are corporate jobs,” company spokeswoman Lynn Brown said by phone. “Very few corporate jobs are in Louisiana.”
In addition to eliminating 700 positions, the company said it will make several organizational changes.
According to a news release, they include removing a management layer consisting of four geographic groups and consolidating and reducing the number of areas managing the core collection, disposal and recycling businesses from 22 to 17.
