Two die after wreck on Prien Lake Road

Two motorists are dead after a crash early Sunday in the 1100 block of West Prien Lake Road.

The names of the deceased had not been released as of press time.

The Lake Charles Police Department responded to the accident at 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival officers found the accident occurred when a pickup truck and a Ford Mustang collided head on.

“After this impact the Mustang was struck by a Jeep,” Mark A. Kraus, deputy chief of police and department spokesman, said in a news release. “The passenger of the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle and the driver partially ejected.”

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger died at a local hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck, Mark Kibodeaux, 23, of 7105 La. Hwy. 27 South, in Sulphur, was arrested at the scene and booked for DWI.

Kraus said more information will be released today.
