The final touches on The Grove in Sulphur are expected to be complete by middle to late March, four months behind schedule.

Norman Farr, Sulphur Parks and Recreation director, said the park was expected to be done by Dec. 1, but the weather caused several delays.

The Grove — the seventh park under SPAR’s domain — is being planned and erected through a partnership with the city and the district.

The $1.2 million project is being funded by SPAR reserve money, with the city responsible for providing restrooms and parking.

Farr said the park — which includes fountains, gazebos, walking paths and Wi-Fi — has a few “final touches” that need to be made before it’s complete.

“There is landscaping left to do, and that is expected to start next week as soon as the rain has passed,” he said. “There’s some brickwork left to finish up and then put some final touches on the sidewalk along Huntington Street. There isn’t really that much left to do.”
