A 42-year-old Sulphur man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said John C. West, 367 La. 108 West, was arrested Thursday and charged with home invasion, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, criminal damage to property and theft under $500.

“On Wednesday, deputies were called to a home in Sulphur after West allegedly beat on the front door of the victim’s home with a baseball bat and kicked the door off of the hinges,” Myers said Friday in a news release. “West then went into a bedroom and used the bat to hit the bed where the victim and a 3-year-old family member were sitting.
