All public and private schools in Calcasieu, Cameron, Beauregard, Jeff Davis and Allen parishes, along with the McNeese State, Sowela Technical Community College and LSU Eunice campuses, will reopen today after being closed Thursday because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac.
All schools and offices in the Diocese of Lake Charles system, as well as the Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School, will also be open.
The area’s two charter schools, Lake Charles Charter Academy and Southwest Louisiana Charter Academy, will hold classes.
Cameron Parish Superintendent Stephanie Rodrigue said Grand Lake will have classes as usual today. Schools that use four-day weeks will return on Tuesday.
Entergy reported that 820 were without power in Calcasieu Parish as of Thursday evening. Most power was expected to be restored by noon today.
Beauregard Electric reported Thursday evening that all of its service had been restored. Spokeswoman Kay Fox said the storm knocked out power to 2,609 customers, most in the Kinder and Moss Bluff areas.
