A pedestrian crossing U.S. 171 in Moss Bluff was struck by a car and killed, State Police said.

Moss Bluff resident Pamela Jean Benniefiel, 54, was crossing the highway at 9:11 p.m. Sunday at You Winn Road when she was hit by a 2006 Pontiac G6 driven by Rita Rivera, 29, of Lake Charles. Rivera was traveling north, Sgt. James Anderson said.
