OAKDALE — An Oakdale man has been charged in the slaying of his grandfather.
Laken Johnson, 18, is being held without bond in the Allen Parish jail on a second-degree murder charge, according to Oakdale Police Chief Scott LaBorde.
He is accused of fatally shooting his grandfather, Norman Ray Johnson, 64, around 9 p.m. Monday at the elder Johnson's residence in the 300 block of Beck Avenue in Oakdale.
Laken Johnson lived with his grandfather.
Laken Johnson allegedly shot his grandfather one time in the left side with a 12-gauge shotgun, LaBorde said. The shotgun was recovered by police.
LaBorde said Johnson confessed to the slaying, but he could not elaborate on a motive.
Laken Johnson left the residence after the shooting and went to a friend's house and the friend notified police, LaBorde said.
No one else was in the residence at the time of the shooting.
