Throughout the holidays there will be a free towing service program available in the Lake Area.
The Tow & Geaux program aims to keep motorists who may have had too much to drink and are impaired off the roadways.
Elite Service, Gator 99.5 and Budweiser are partnering to provide the service.
Tow & Geaux will be available in the Lake Charles, Sulphur and Westlake areas only.
It will be offered through Dec. 31.
“Drinking responsibly should be a personal goal for all holiday merrymakers,” Ben Marriner, president of Southwest Beverage, said in a news release.
“But in the event that someone needs assistance in getting home, we felt it important to offer this program. There is no telling how many lives may be saved with Tow & Geaux during this holiday season,” he said.
Marriner encourages the public to utilize the service in an attempt to keep the streets safe for families and friends.
Chad Talbot, on-premise sales representative for Southwest Beverage, said this is the fifth year it has taken place and every year gets “better and better.”
“We just want people to get home safely,” Talbot said. “We’re doing our part to promote drinking responsibly.”
Last year they did about 15 tows for the week, Talbot said.
“Our customers at bars and clubs have helped get the word out as well,” Talbot said. “We really get pumped up about this.”
For a free ride and tow home, motorists should call Elite Services at 433-3548 anytime during the program period.
