Lake Charles man charged with aggravated rape

A 35-year-old Lake Charles man, already incarcerated after being arrested and charged with distribution of child pornography last month, has now been charged with aggravated rape.
State Police said David Thomas Shelton was charged with aggravated rape on Tuesday.
Sgt. James Anderson said Shelton is accused of having sexual conduct with a juvenile female. His bond was set at $300,000.
“Troopers will continue to work to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting individuals who choose to prey upon children,” Anderson said in a news release. “This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.”
