A 31-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with possession of stolen property over $1,500, aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer by flight, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Anthony J. Ross, 1513 Sunset Drive, was arrested Monday morning.

“Cpl. Dennis Pippin was patrolling the Fitzenreiter Road boat launch in Lake Charles and observed a man, later identified as Ross, attempting to push a truck into the water from the boat ramp,” Myers said in a news release on Wednesday. “After running the license plate number of the truck, Pippin discovered it had been reported stolen. When the Cpl. Pippin approached Ross, he jumped into the truck and fled.

“Moments later, Ross lost control of the truck and abandoned the vehicle. Following a brief foot pursuit, Ross was apprehended by Pippin without incident.”

Judge Wilford Carter set Ross’ bond at $4,000.

Myers said the stolen truck was recovered and returned to the owner.
