MOSS BLUFF — The community of Moss Bluff celebrated the last vestiges of fall during its sixth annual Harvest Festival with carnival rides, magic shows, pageants and a gumbo cookoff.
“The people of Moss Bluff are a tight-knit community, and no matter how big we get we want everybody to know everybody here,” festival board member Michelle McInnis said.
“This is an opportunity for all of Moss Bluff to get together and feel like a family while enjoying carnival rides, pageants and other fun activities.”
The festival was headlined by magician Bart Glatt, who entertained with activities such as a marshmallow toss. Children stood on opposite sides of the stage and tried to throw and then catch marshmallows using only their mouths.
Other children enjoyed the carnival attractions — a Ferris wheel, games pony rides — immensely. “The most fun thing I rode was The Hurricane, and the funnel cake I ate was delicious,” said 11-year-old Skylar McCain.
Other draws included several pageants, including one for dogs, and contests.
“The gumbo cook-off went really well. Actually, I ate too much because it was all so fabulous,” festival board member Kimberly Leleux said.
“We’ve had a great turnout, with lots of families getting together. That’s what it’s all about.”
