Update: Brush fire in Moss Bluff now under control

Last Modified: Friday, July 06, 2012 3:37 PM

From staff reports

Firefighters on Thursday were able to control a 10-acre fire sparked the day before by fireworks, said Ward 1 Fire Chief Mark Degenhardt. The blaze, behind West Kingston Square in Moss Bluff, affected no homes.

Degenhardt said Thursday that his department battled the fire Wednesday and that the blaze was pushing northward. Capt. Robby Trahan said that “Mother Nature did help” them get the fire under control.

Agencies at the scene included the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the LeBleu Settlement and Lake Charles fire departments. No fireworks-related injuries were reported in the area, said local hospital spokesmen.
