A grand jury on Thursday indicted former priest Mark A. Broussard on 10 charges related to child sexual abuse.

Authorities have accused Broussard, 56, of sexually abusing three boys between 1986 and 1991.

He faces a total of 224 charges. He is being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $3.42 million bond.

The 10 indictments were the first brought before a grand jury.

Broussard was indicted on two counts of rape, three counts of molestation of a juvenile, two counts of aggravated oral sexual battery, two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of sexual battery.

The indictment alleges the crimes happened between July 1, 1986, and July 1, 1991, while one victim was between the ages of 10 and 13, the second 9 and 12 and the third 10 and 12.

The indictment did not say at which church the alleged crimes occurred, but authorities have previously said they happened while Broussard served at Our Lady Queen of Heaven and at St. Henry Catholic churches.

Broussard served at OLQH from 1986 to 1988 and at St. Henry from 1988 to 1992. He then moved to St. Eugene Catholic Church in Grand Chenier, where he served until he left the priesthood in 1994.

Broussard was living in Duson at the time of his arrest.
