Last Modified: Friday, November 09, 2012 9:08 PM

From staff reports

An off-duty DeQuincy police officer has been dismissed from the force after been charged with DUI, hit-and-run driving and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, DeQuincy Mayor Lawrence Henagan confirmed.

Lake Charles Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said 30-year-old Matthew Sollay, of Lake Charles, was arrested early Wednesday morning following a single-vehicle accident at the corner of Bayou and Orchard drives.

“We began receiving calls about a marked DeQuincy Police unit operating recklessly, striking a fence at a home on West School Street and then a tree at the intersection of Bayou Drive and Orchard Drive,” Kraus said in a news release. “Officers located the vehicle stuck in a wooded area south of Orchard Drive.”

Sollay was dismissed Thursday.
