The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is celebrating the 10th anniversary of C-GOV, the Calcasieu Government Channel, by airing a retrospective that will run through Friday.
The program will air on the channel daily at 2:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. It can also be viewed on the Police Jury’s website — www.cppj.net.
Al Prater, the channel’s original director, and Parish Administrator Bryan Beam discuss how the channel formed in the late 1990s, the first program that aired in 2002 and its expanded coverage of government-related events over the years. An interview with the late Dr. Michael DeBakey in 2005 and a documentary on the Muller’s building in 2006, will also be discussed.
The documentary also features archived video from Police Jury meetings, the League of Women Voters candidate forums, the Lorrain Bridge refurbishing in 2004 and briefings on hurricanes Rita, Gustav and Ike.
