There were two homicides in Lake Charles Sunday, city police said.

The first, a possible stabbing, happened Sunday afternoon at 1700 2nd St., Apt. No. 1004. The second, a shooting, occurred Sunday night at 3214 Louisiana Avenue.

City police were still working the homicide on Louisiana Avenue late into Sunday night.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus confirmed both homicides but no further information was released Sunday regarding the two murders.

Antwinette Davis, a neighbor who lives on Louisiana Avenue, told the American Press she heard “screaming and yelling” before hearing police sirens arriving at the scene. But Davis said she did not hear any gunshots.

Kraus said it was the third homicide in the city of the weekend.

City police have already arrested a local man in connection with a homicide that happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Dustin Belest Pleasant, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Police found the body of a female at the intersection of Melvin and Alma lanes.

Chief Don Dixon scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. Monday to discuss all three murders.

Title:

Very sad indeed. Drugs turn good ppl to monsters. Hopefully the truth comes out as it shld. Defending a loved one is in our nature. I don't want to see the deceased slandered, jus truth. The boys did what they had to to protect their mother/sister. At the time, the deceased wasn't himself. He was a good person but while under the influence that good person was gone. Sadly, the boys looked at the deceased as a brother, never in a million years wld have turned on him but when he turned on their mom/sister the boys did what anyone of us wld...defended her. Prayers for both families in this hard time.

Title: Condolences

My condolences to the families of these victims. It's the worst nightmare anyone can go thru, to get that phone call and tell you your loved one was the victim. I went thru this on June 25 the night my husband was killed on Fall st. It's a shame Lake Charles is a beautiful city, but with to much crime.
