The Barbe Bucs and their aerial attack will invade Bossier City, hoping to earn its first semifinal trip since 2008.

Barbe (11-1) led from wire-to-wire against Byrd last week in its 38-21 win. The Bucs offense, which had a season-low output of 24 points in a first-round win, returned to form. Quarterback Kennon Fontenot threw for 247 yards, ran for 108 and accounted for four touchdowns. Receiver Trey Quinn caught 10 passes for 153 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Parkway (11-1) rallied for a 31-28 win in Hahnville last week. The Panthers are led by quarterback Brandon Harris, who ran for two touchdowns and threw another scoring pass. Running back Marcus Harper ran for 84 yards and doubles as a linebacker for the Panthers.

Parkway is 3-1 in playoff games under head coach David Feaster, who was head coach at Leesville before going to Parkway. Last year, Parkway lost 38-37 in double overtime to Mandeville in the regional round.

“They are very impressive, very athletic and appear to big on both lines,” said Barbe head coach Mike Cutrera, who has won four of five playoff games. “They can mix it up quite a bit. They are close to a 60-40 run-pass split. The quarterback has designed runs and can also scramble.”

Quinn had the big game last week, but Cutrera said the Bucs’ host of receiving options leads to the team’s success.

“The more people we can get involved the better,” he said. “That makes it difficult for defenses to cover.”

Cutrera said he likes what he is seeing from his team.

“I am very pleased with the way we played last week,” Cutrera said. “We are playing good at the right time. Hopefully we can keep that going. The kids are playing hard and want to continue playing, They have done everything we have asked them to do. They are having fun, which is important. We are doing some goods things offensively, defensively and in the kicking game.”
