POLLOCK (AP) — Federal prison officials say inmates in the maximum-security prison in Pollock seriously injured one guard and inflicted minor injuries on one of the guards who responded.
Prison spokeswoman Crystal Zerr said the prison was in lockdown Thursday during investigation of the incident Wednesday.
Her news release says the first guard was attacked about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday during a security check at a housing unit in the 1,493-inmate prison. She says he is hospitalized and expected to recover. Zerr says the other guard suffered minor injuries.
She says disruptive inmates were removed from the housing unit. Zerr did not give other details or immediately respond to a call and email for comment.
The federal prison complex also includes a 1,700-inmate medium-security prison and a minimum-security camp with about 300 inmates.
