American Press debuts new local entertainment section 'Scene'

Last Modified: Thursday, July 05, 2012 3:26 PM

From staff reports

Entertainment options abound in Southwest Louisiana, and part of the American Press’ responsibility is to deliver relevant news about them.

That’s why we’re introducing Scene, a new weekly arts and entertainment section, in today’s edition. We hope you enjoy it.

Scene, a weekly broadsheet section to be published Thursdays, will deliver news of value about what might interest you in your free time, including, at various turns, staff-generated or guest-written features on places of interest, concerts and books, restaurants and museums. And lots more.

We’ll focus on happenings that occur in the parishes where we deliver — Calcasieu and Cameron, Jeff Davis, Allen and Beauregard — but we’ll also occasionally wander down the road in Louisiana, and even into Texas, to places of interest that might fall within an easy drive for our readers.

Brad Robichaux, entertainment copy editor, will coordinate Scene. He can be reached Saturdays through Wednesday afternoons at 337-494-4073. Or call night city editor Dennis Spears at 337-494-4080.

For suggestions or comments on our new product, call executive editor Ken Stickney at 337-494-4083.

Scene will replace Marquee, the weekly tab format arts and entertainment section that was formerly published on Fridays.

TV listings will continue to be included in Friday’s editions.
