Monceaux chosen 
for medical congress

BOSTON — Carli Monceaux, a sophomore at DeQuincy High School, has been named a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, Mass.

The congress, an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields, will meet June 23-25.

Monceaux’s nomination letter was signed by Dr. Mario Capecchi, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine and the science director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists to represent DeQuincy High based on her academic achievement, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.

Cain named 
to dean’s list

AUSTIN — Juliana Cain, a graduate of St. Louis High School, has been named to the university honors list at the University of Texas at Austin.

Students who receive the university honors designation must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 and earn at least 45 grade points.

Cain, a junior nursing major, earned a 4.0 GPA for the fall semester.

LC students honored by LSU Law Center

BATON ROUGE — Two Lake Charles natives were named Paul M. Hebert Scholars and two were named as dean’s scholars by the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center for the spring 2019 semester.

Anna Ieyoub and Sam Boyer are among 56 other students to be named as Herbert Scholars, while Joseph Dronet and Laura Pousson are among 79 students who were awarded the dean’s scholar honor.

The Paul M. Hebert Scholar is awarded to the top 10 percent of LSU Law students earning 12 or more semester hours of credit in courses taken at the Law Center.

These awards are noted on students’ transcripts.

Ieyoub and Dronet are in their first year of LSU Law, Boyer in his second year, and Pousson is in her third and final year.

Dunn receives 
chancellor’s award

MENOMONIE, Wis. — Joshua Dunn of Jennings has received the University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor’s Award for the fall 2018 semester.

The award is presented to students who have a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.

Four locals graduate 
from La. Tech

MONROE — Four Southwest Louisiana students were among graduates recognized recently during commencement exercises at Louisiana Tech University. They are: David Christopher Plaisance, Hannah Gabrielle Theriot and Sophia Ann Trafford, all of Lake Charles, and Bailey Elizabeth Anderson of Pitkin.

Theriot graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average in biology and has been accepted in early decision for the fall 2019 semester at LSU New Orleans Medical School.

SW La. students 
honored at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio — Several Southwest Louisiana students have been named to the dean’s list at Ashland University.

They are: Clint Baptiste, Joshua Porter, Dejean Turner, Roshon Dumas, Richard Barnes, Robert Paige, Iben O’Neal, Dermaine Norman, Justin Peters, Randal Trahan, Terry Bradley, Joseph Myers and Henry Raziano, all of Kinder; and Terrilynn Killett and Hannah Milazzo, both of Lake Charles.
