ORANGE — “Director’s Favorite” is a new exhibit at The W.H. Stark House in Orange, Texas, showcasing retiring Managing Director Patsy Herrington’s favorite decorative art objects.

Items are on display in the adjacent Carriage House and can be viewed through Saturday, April 20.

Herrington, began working for the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation in 1980, has been the managing director of The W.H. Stark House since 2000.

In honor of Herrington, her favorite decorative objects from the collections are exhibited together for the first time. On her first visit to the Stark House in September of 1980, Herrington saw the Japanese Cloisonné Vase decorated with swimming carp and water lilies in the Stark House Breakfast Room, and it became her favorite.

Also on display is the 1902 Arts and Crafts pottery vase “Toast Cup “signed by Artus Van Briggle, Herrington’s second favorite.

Other special pieces include the Harriet Whitney Frishmuth bronze sculpture “Crest of the Wave” and the Thomas G. Hawkes American Brilliant Period cut glass “Melon Platter.”

The W.H. Stark House Carriage House is at 610 W. Main Street in Orange, Texas, and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Group tours are available, and the last tour begins at 3:30 p.m.

Thomas G. Hawkes’ American Brilliant Period Cut Glass ”Melon Platter” is one of the decorative art pieces on display at The Stark House in Orange
