Ledet hits the charts with five-song EP

A five-song EP from Westlake native and former “American Idol” contestant Joshua Ledet has debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.

The EP — sold exclusively at Walmart stores — features five performances from the Fox talent show. It is one of a series of EPs featuring contestants from the show’s 11th season.

Ledet can be heard singing “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown, “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge, “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” first recorded by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and a duet with “Idol” winner Phillip Phillips on “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling,” which was written for The Righteous Brothers.

The EP also reached 59 on the Billboard 200 chart. Ledet was eliminated from “American Idol” behind runner-up Jessica Sanchez and Phillips.

He and the show’s other top 10 contestants are on tour and will perform in Lafayette on July 30.
