
Juneteenth, an annual celebration of African-American culture and achievements, will offer a variety of events, food and music at the Lake Charles Civic Center on June 22.
Festivities will run 2-10:30 p.m. Admission is free this year 2-4 p.m. After 4 p.m., the admission will be the Juneteenth commemorative T-shirt or $10 at the door.
The event will include a variety of competitions that will include three-on-three basketball, a barbecue cook-off and a contest to see who sounds most like Josh Ledet. Performers on the KZWA Sound Stage will serve up Southern soul, zydeco, hip-hop and R&B tunes.
A variety of vendors will be on-hand selling food, drinks and arts and crafts items.
