The Home Builders Association of Southwest Louisiana will hold its 2013 Home Show 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Admission will be $5 per person, with children 10 and under admitted free.

Vendors will exhibit everything needed to build or renovate a home, including cabinets, appliances, flooring, pest control and security systems, said Vicki Broussard, executive officer for the Home Builders Association of Southwest Louisiana.

“The show has 110 vendors who are experts in their individual fields and are offering products and services for people all in one place instead of having to go to all these different vendors and stores and such when undergoing a remodel,” she said.

“We have a lot of things that are on the cutting edge of decorating and remodeling that they can see all under one roof.”

Broussard said the event offers a convenient way for people to shop and get the information they need.

The show, which is in its 22nd year, has grown exponentially, in contrast to similar events elsewhere, she said.

“Some of the other home builder associations have had to cancel their home shows over the last couple of years because they didn’t have enough anticipation from vendors and the public, but our show just continues to grow,” Broussard said.

“Lake Charles is an exception because we are having a housing boom because of the influx of people coming in and needing this stuff. Our show is still doing really well.”””
