A Florida woman has been charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute after an early morning traffic stop on Interstate 10 netted 25 pounds of pot, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said 26-year-old Rhawnie R. Tijerina was stopped near mile marker 41 around 8 a.m. Thursday.
“Combined Anti-Drug Task Force detective Sgt. Jeff Cole spoke with Tijerina and said she began to act suspiciously,” Myers said in a news release. “Sgt. Cole received permission to search the car. He and his K-9 “Basco” then recovered two large white trash bags in the trunk of the car.
“The bags contained 25 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $50,000.”
