Local magazine seeks art entries for calendar contest

SPECIAL TO THE AMERICAN PRESS

Thrive magazine is looking for submissions from local artists to be featured in a full-color calendar.
Thirteen artists will be featured, one per month, along with a write-up about the piece and the artist.
Also, other works will be included on several resource pages with calendars of events.
To enter, send a 300 dpi jpeg of entry, a short description of the submission and artist, and a photo of the artist. Total length for description is 75 words. Email entry to edit@thriveswla.com and put “art” in the subject line. Deadline for entries is Nov. 18.
All artwork types are accepted, including paintings, watercolor, illustrations and photography. The contest is open to amateur and professional artistss in Louisiana. Thrive staff will choose among all submissions then allow Facebook fans to vote on the ones to feature in the calendar.
The Thrive calendar will be inserted into the January 2012 issue and an extra 5,000 will be printed to distribute throughout Southwest Louisiana.
