Construction continues on a new subdivision of Katrina cottages being built south of East Broad Street in an effort to permanently house families affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The $3.92 million Fields Subdivision project off Sixth Avenue began March 4. It’s being managed by the Louisiana Recovery Authority.
The project is being paid for using part of a $75 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The subdivision, located on a horseshoe-shaped road, includes 17 cottages on Phillips Court and another 17 on Alice Court.
The subdivision includes five home designs with metal framework that can withstand winds of up to 130 mph.

You know, this bothers me. Katrina was over when the levees broke, and we are still hearing about it. I feel for the people that had to live through this, but me heart also goes out to the people that suffered in Rita, my self being one. The ones that went through Rita is never heard of. Why is that? There has not been one actor that has asked if we need help.
Is is the people of Lake Charles, Sulphur, Cameron and surrounding areas Work together and get things done? I just would like the question answered: WHAT ABOUT THE RITA SURVIVORS?
