Name a baseball player of the week.

WA: South Beauregard’s Charles Keith had four hits over two games as the Golden Knights beat DeRidder and Merryville on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

RA: Lake Charles College Prep’s Jaylen Joseph and Kevon Freeman each hit a pair of home runs and accounted for 14 RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Washington-Marion on Thursday.

Name a softball player of the week.

WA: Rosepine ace Chloe Bennett struck out 30 batters and picked up wins over Vinton, Pickering and Menard. She also had two hits against Menard and Vinton as the Eagles improved to 16-2.

RA: Bell City freshman Ali Conner batted over .500 with 16 RBIs and six extra-base hits as the Bruins scored 62 runs over their last four games, going 3-1 to improve to 8-3.

Name an outstanding track and field athlete.

WA: Thaddeus Campbell of Lake Charles College Prep won the 300-meter hurdles race at the Red River Relays at St. James, running a personal-best time of 39.95 seconds.

RA: Junior Emma Freeman won outstanding field honors and helped lead St. Louis Catholic to the girls team title at the 60th Oil City Relays on Friday at Lafayette High School. Freeman won the javelin with a throw of 117 feet, 1 inch, and won the discus with a distance of 115 -3½, the top throw in Southwest Louisiana this season.
