My husband and I just got back from Habitat for Humanity’s Warehouse sale. They have got some really good deals over there! We got a standing mirror, a new toilet, and 2 really nice heavy end tables all for $45! The best deal that I saw were wooden bunk beds for $60! You can’t get them any cheaper than that! Sacrificing time to save money

I had written a post about sacrificing money to save time. But then I read this post on Money Saving Mom and decided that she worded it way better than I could. So here is an excerpt from her blog:
True Frugality Considers the ROI
Frugal in Virginia’s husband, Ryan, has another smashing piece up here which you’ll want to go read. I found myself nodding along in agreement until I came to the sentence which said they don’t reuse their Ziploc bags.
I had to stop and catch my breath for a second.
They don’t reuse Ziploc bags?? Doesn’t that break rule number 10454 in The Frugal Zealot’s Handbook? Doesn’t everyone know that you must get at least 543 uses out of a Ziploc bag before throwing it out? That’s just what we frugal folks do. Anything else would be… well, it would just be unthinkable.
Jesting aside, the point of the piece was excellent: true frugality considers the ROI (return on investment of time) as the bottom line. There are thousands of ways to save a buck. But each family needs to carefully weigh how much time it is going to take to save that buck. Time is money, too.
So figure out which money-saving efforts are worth your time and stick with those. Don’t feel guilted over the fact that you might not be doing all the frugal things some other family is doing. You can’t do it all, so pick and choose what works for your family in the season of life you’re in.

50/50 Thursdays

Kplctv.com is hosting 50/50 Thursdays where you can purchase a $50 gift certificate for only $25. This is a great idea for gift giving…the gift recipient will never know you only paid half! This week it was Christian Book Center and next week it will be Casa Manana. Click here to get all the details!
A friend from church asked me how you actually get them, so I thought I would go into a little more detail here. If there is a gift certificate you would like to purchase you would click on that link and follow the instructions listed there. You will have to fill out the form and also pay by credit/debit card the price of the gift certificate plus shipping and handling. I would suggest doing this right at noon on Thursdays because they sell out rather quickly! The business that is offering the gift certificate will send it by mail to your home.

I found these super cute clutches made from placemats on my new favorite website Dollar Store Crafts. I dont think I have ever used a clutch but if I ever need to, I will be making one of these! They are very inexpensive to make so they are great Christmas/birthday present ideas. (This tutorial actually comes from Jessica at Happy Together who was featured on Dollar Store Crafts.)
