BATON ROUGE — I feel old.

Seth Henry, the son of my long-ago McNeese baseball teammate Lud Henry, signed a contract Tuesday with the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

It’s not like it was a huge surprise. Covering LSU and Tulane games the past few years, I saw the younger Henry play in the infield for Tulane. A few years ago, I bumped into his dad, who had moved on from coaching at Berwick High School to a series of administrative positions.

We both acknowledged looking older while insisting the other hadn’t changed a bit.

This sort of helps clinch it.

A Tulane news release says Seth Henry will leave Thursday for Fort Myers, Fla., to begin workouts with the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

Anyway, ballplayers come and go, and those of you who remember the 1980 McNeese baseball team, the last coached by Johnny Suydam, probably remember Lud Henry. Now his son is a signed, sealed and soon-to-be-delivered Major League Baseball prospect on his way to the minors.

Thought you might enjoy knowing.
