Downloading and Setting Desktop Photos

Windows

1) Find your screen resolution. If you do not know your resolution, you can find out by doing the following:

  • Click "Start"
  • Place pointer on "Settings"
  • Click on "Control Panel"
  • Double-click "Display"
  • Click the tab labeled "Settings"

Read the resolution in the box labeled "Screen Resolution". If your screen resolution is greater than 1024 x 768, use this resolution.

2) Download picture. To download a picture on the previous page, click the resolution that corresponds to your screen resolution.

3) Right-click. Place your pointer on the picture after it has fully loaded and right click. A box will appear with several choices. Put the photo where you intend to store it.

4) Choose "Set as Wallpaper" or "Set as Background." Place your pointer and click.

5) Alternatively, choose "Save As." Rather than immediately selecting "Set as Wallpaper," it is possible to place the picture in memory (save to disk) for later use.

Macintosh OS X

1) Find your screen resolution. If you do not know your resolution, you can find out by doing the following: Under the apple, select "System Preferences," then click on "Displays." Note the resolution that is highlighted or change it to one that matches the resolution of one of our photos.

2) Download picture. To download a picture on the previous page, click on the resolution on that corresponds to your screen resolution.

3) Click and hold. Place your pointer on the picture after it has fully loaded. Click and hold. A box will appear with several choices, phrased differently according to which browser you use. Choose the one that allows you to "save image to disk" or to your desktop. Put the photo where you intend to store it.

4) Under the apple, select "System Preferences."

5) Click "Desktop and Screen Saver."

6) Select "Desktop" on the button at the top.

7) Click "Choose Folder" in the list on the bottom left, then navigate to the photo you downloaded earlier. Press the "Choose" button.

Macintosh OS 9.x

1) Find your screen resolution. If you do not know your resolution, you can find out by doing the following:

  • Open your "Monitors" control panel and see which resolution is currently selected. If your current setting does not match one of the sizes of the photos we offer, you could consider changing it here so that it does. If your screen resolution is greater than 1024 x 768, use this resolution.

2) Download picture. To download a picture on the previous page, click on the resolution on that corresponds to your screen resolution.

3) Click and hold. Place your pointer on the picture after it has fully loaded. Click and hold. A box will appear with several choices, phrased differently according to which browser you use. Choose the one that allows you to "save image to disk" or to your desktop. Put the photo where you intend to store it.

3) In your control panels, double-click the "Appearance" panel to open it.

4) Click the "Desktop" tab.

5) Click the "Place Picture" button and navigate to select the photograph you downloaded. When selected, press the "Choose" button.

6) Click "Set Desktop" and close the control panel.
