Three years and five knee surgeries removed from his last football game, sophomore quarterback Will Briscoe finally made his McNeese State debut in the fourth quarter. Briscoe did not attempt any passes, but it did not lessen the moment.

Diontae Spencer’s 80-yard kickoff return set the Cowboys up at the UAPB 17-yard line and put them in position to take a 21-14 lead.

WORST CLOCK MANAGEMENT: The Lions came out aggressive at the end of the first half despite starting at their own 12 with 37 seconds left. Two straight incompletions and a sack assured McNeese would get the ball back, but the Lions were bailed out by a roughing-the-punter penalty on McNeese’s block attempt.
