Lake Charles Police are investigating a body found in the roadway Sunday morning near the 1100 block of 1st Avenue.

It is believed the body discovered was a hit-and-run victim and officers are reviewing security video in the area to identify the suspect vehicle.

An area of 1st Avenue was taped off Sunday morning as a team with the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene.

Evidence markers also lined the roadway as police began their investigation.
