A jury in state district court found a Texas man guilty of an armed robbery at a local LSU merchandise shop in April 2012.
William Shupp, 43, of Spring, Texas, was found guilty as charged of armed robbery and false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, although the jury returned a responsive verdict of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, rather than theft of a motor vehicle.
The jury returned the 10-2 verdict Friday afternoon after an hour and 20 minutes of deliberation.
Prosecutors tied Shupp to the robbery with DNA found on a mask behind Que Pasa Taqueria, near where the victim’s car was found at Don’s Carwash.
Shupp had been at L’Auberge Casino Resort, according to their records.
