Authorities are looking for a man in connection with a reported home invasion on 7th Street Thursday morning.
Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said city police were called to a home at 2807 7th St. in reference to a home invasion.
Jeremiah Cormier, the home owner, said an armed man entered the residence and demanded money.
“Cormier advised that his girlfriend, Michaela Chauffe, and his two small children were inside at the time of the incident,” Kraus said Friday in a news release. “Cormier said that he was able to fight the intruder off and disarm the him.”
Kraus said the suspect, described as a heavy-set black male, 5-foot-9 to 5-10, wearing a dark gray hoodie and blue jeans, fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area with the assistance of K-9 units but were unable to locate the suspect.
“While officers were investigating the incident they located narcotics inside the Cormier residence,” Kraus said.
Cormier, 33, and Chauffe, 27, were then arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
Kraus said the lead officer was Cpl Scott Dougherty and the lead detectives were Dustini Gaudet and Hope Sanders.
