Lafayette woman facing drug charges

A 31-year-old Lafayette woman has been charged with methamphetamine and marijuana possession following a traffic stop on Interstate 10, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Emily Thibodeaux Wallace was pulled over for a traffic violation at 7:30 p.m. Monday while driving east on Interstate 10 between Vinton and Sulphur.

Myers said Combined Anti-Drug Task Force Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole reported a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside of Wallace’s car.

“During a subsequent search of the car, Sgt. Cole recovered a can with a false bottom,” Myers said Wednesday. “The can containing approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine. Colt also recovered a small bag from Wallace which contained approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine and 2 partially burnt marijuana cigarettes. A spoon and syringe were also found inside the car.”
