Leo Paul Thibodeaux pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder Friday in state district court.
Thibodeaux, 53, 4190 Edgerly-DeQuincy Highway, was indicted Thursday. He is accused of shooting his live-in girlfriend, Toni Marie Frabbiele, 37, twice in the head in March 2012.
Arraignments typically take place on Mondays, but Thibodeaux was scheduled to be in court Friday to clear up a bench warrant related to a March 2012 charge of motor vehicle theft. A trial date for the murder charge was set for March 17, District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Holly Carter said.
Thibodeaux originally reported Frabbiele’s death as a homicide, authorities said. Officials said at the time they considered the death suspicious. Thibodeaux was taken in for questioning, but wasn’t arrested until August of this year.
