Teachers stay out, office personnel fill in at Jonesboro-Hodge Middle

Last Modified: Wednesday, May 08, 2013 1:38 PM

JONESBORO (AP) — Jackson Parish Schools Superintendent Wayne Alford says central office personnel filled in after 13 teachers failed to report to work at Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School.

The News-Star reported that teachers declined comment on the reasons they did not report to work on Tuesday.

Alford said he got a call from the school's principal early Tuesday informing him of the absences. With a limited number of substitute teachers available, Alford called on central office staff to fill the vacancies.

He said that by 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, school was in session as normal.
