A Beauregard Parish woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting Friday near Bundick Lake.
Beauregard Parish Sheriff Ricky Moses said in a news release that the body of 56-year-old Darrell G. Regan was found on a neighbor’s back porch shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.
He said the homeowners contacted authorities when they discovered the body.
Moses said Regan was shot at his residence and tried to get to his neighbor’s house for assistance but apparently collapsed on the porch.
Deputies arrested Dana Plunkett, who was “involved in some type of domestic relationship” with the victim, he said. A motive for the shooting has not been determined, Moses said.
Chief Detective Mark Herford told the American Press this is the parish’s first homicide this year.
Plunkett’s bond had not been set as of Friday afternoon, but Herford said it must be set within 48 hours.
