Two Sulphur men have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and theft over $1,500, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Jailon A. Hantz, 19, and Marcus G. Latalladi, 27, are accused of stealing a SUV and other items from a Sulphur home on Nov. 23.
The home owner said several powers tools and a lock box, which contained several thousand dollars in savings bonds and silver coins, were also taken.
“Hantz and Latalladi, acquaintances of the victim, had stayed at the victim’s home the night before the SUV and other items went missing,” Myers said in a news release.
Latalladi, who was incarcerated in Sulphur City Jail for a separate burglary case, and Hantz were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and theft over $1,500.
Judge Ron Ware set their bonds at $15,000 each.
Detective David Doucett was the lead investigator on this case.
