Sulphur man charged with fourth-offense DUI

A Sulphur man was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with fourth-offense DWI, according to state police.
At 12:31 a.m. Saturday, a state trooper saw a motorist “driving erratically” on La. 385 south of McNeese Street in Lake Charles, according to Sgt. James Anderson.
The driver, 43-year-old Jeffery Benoit, was stopped. Troopers determined Benoit was impaired and brought him to Troop D office for a breath test.
Anderson said once at Troop D, Benoit refused to submit a breath sample.
“A ‘no refusal’ search warrant was obtained and Benoit was transported to an area hospital where blood was drawn,” Anderson said in a news release. “The sample will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.”
Benoit was arrested for fourth-offense DWI, failure to use a turn signal and failure to wear a seat belt. Beniot was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Benoit is on parole for a previous DWI offense. His bond is set at $151,500.
