A 31-year-old Sulphur man has been charged with one count of cruelty to a juvenile, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Steve Hill, 4220 E. Burton St., was arrested Oct. 13 after allegedly abusing a 6-year-old family member.
“When deputies arrived, they observed bruises and marks on the victim’s face and body,” Myers said in a news release. “When questioned by detectives, Hill confirmed he used a leather belt to whip the victim several times in the face and on his body.”
Judge Ron Ware set his Hill’s at $7,500.
Detective Steven Rathjen was the lead investigator.
