Those who don’t want to wrap their Christmas gifts this year can take their packages to Denise Miller’s Affordable Elegance, where high school students will do the wrapping for them.

The students — members of the Leadership Center for Youth, a program of Family & Youth Counseling Agency — will wrap presents 2-4 p.m. every Saturday leading up to Christmas.

The activity is meant to teach the students leadership qualities and the importance of community service, said Julio Galan, president and CEO of Family & Youth.

“What we find when kids go through these programs is that they want to keep giving back to the community,” he said.

“Their hope is that people will make contributions so to benefit leadership development programs, career exploration programs and civic engagement programs.”

Donations will benefit the activities of the high school students involved in Family & Youth. Students can decide where the money goes as long as it will help the community, Galan said.

“I think its going to show them responsibility with dealing with people and giving people a service,” said Denise Miller, owner of Affordable Elegance. “It’s a very good program and good for the kids. People I’ve talked to are very positive about this.”
