Alabama, welcome back to the BCS championship chase.
With losses by No. 1 Kansas State and No. 2 Oregon, Notre Dame will likely move to the top of the BCS rankings and the Crimson Tide figure to move into the second slot.
Alabama rebounded from its loss to Texas A&M last week with a 49-0 nonconference victory over Western Carolina.
Notre Dame beat Wake Forest 38-0 to finish undefeated at home for the first time since 1998. The Irish improved to 11-0 for the first time since 1989 and can liekly lock up a spot in the BCS title game by beating Southern California next weekend.
A week after moving to the No. 1 spot, Kansas State was run over by Baylor in a 52-24 loss, the Bears' first win over a No. 1 in their history.
Not long after that, Oregon went down 17-14 in overtime when Stanford's Jordan Williamson hit a 37-yard field goal.
