Water is receding out of homes in northern Calcasieu Parish after as much as 15 inches of rain fell in some areas Friday and Saturday.

National Weather Service forecaster Joe Rua says at least a few homes in the Gillis and Moss Bluff areas north of Lake Charles experienced flash flooding.

Radar estimates show a band of rain running from southwest to northeast dropped 7 inches to 15 inches of rain in parts of Cameron, Calcasieu, Beauregard and Allen parishes.

Water flooded many areas roads before running off into creeks.

Rua says there may be some downstream flooding along the Calcasieu River over the next couple of days, as the deluge runs off.

Though light rain continued Saturday afternoon in Lake Charles, Rua says flash flooding is expected to abate.””
