Construction on the section of Interstate 10 in Westlake from PPG Drive to the Calcasieu River bridge will begin Monday and end in January, state highway officials said.
Steve Jiles, district engineer administrator for the Department of Transportation and Development, said most of the construction will be done overnight — 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Mondays-Fridays and 9 p.m.-9 a.m. on weekends.
During those times the interstate will be down to one lane of traffic. Drivers should use I-210 to avoid delays.
Jiles said crews will patch areas of the interstate, as well as grind away 2 inches of the surface and do an overlay to improve the road.
