Shreveport student brings handgun to school

SHREVEPORT (AP) — A Shreveport high school student is faces charges after taking a handgun on a school campus.

Police told The Times the 17-year-old Fair Park High School student was arrested Friday after authorities found a .22 caliber handgun in his backpack.

Authorities took the weapon and arrested the teenager on a charge of carrying a weapon on school property and being in possession of a firearm in a Firearm Free zone.
