SULPHUR — A Sulphur man was arrested after he shot his father and then barricaded himself in a Bankens Road home for several hours, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the home, at 427 Bankens Road, at about noon, and found that Chad Peshoff, 42, had shot his father, who was flown to a local hospital — his condition unknown, said Kim Myers, sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Authorities surrounded the house and set off a flash-bang grenade and then tear-gassed the home once they established that Peshoff was inside.
An official on the scene said Peshoff was seen looking out windows but wasn’t cooperating.
He was forced out of the home after officers released tear gas into the residence several times and was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. without injury.
Myers said a motive for the shooting isn’t known. Peshoff was charged with attempted second-degree murder.
