WESTLAKE — It’s time to flip the Bosco Burgers and clap for the Cajun and country music as the annual Westlake Family, Fun and Food Festival pops up on the St. Bosco Catholic Church grounds Friday-Sunday, April 12-14.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Rodeo Round-Up.”

“In addition to all of the excitement of games, food booths, auctions and bingo, we have live entertainment on stage throughout the weekend,” said festival chairman Milissa Thibodeaux. “Festival queen and visiting queens from other events around Southwest Louisiana will also walk across the stage.”

The action will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and close at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Activities will include carnival games, fun jumps and slides, pony rides, a petting zoo, bingo, and two auctions, Thibodeaux said. There will be a kid zone, face painting, arts and crafts, a country kitchen, and plants for sale.

“To entice your appetite, the festival offers some of the best food in the area such as tacos, nachos, funnel cakes, shrimp on a stick, boudin, chicken strips, etouffee, ice cream and cotton candy,” Thibodeaux said. “A sweet shop filled with all sort of homemade goodies will satisfy the sweet tooth.”

On Saturday afternoon a washer-throwing contest and a horseshoe-throwing tournament will be held. A live auction will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Also on Sunday, barbecue dinners will be for sale, as well as two contests.

Bands will be Jessie Taylor, Clayton Rougeou and the Wild West Show, Ramblin Cajun Band, Kathlyn Johnson & Band, Ed Jardell & the LA Scramble Band, and Mark Reeves Band.
