The McNeese Department of Performing Arts will present a free faculty recital featuring soprano Carol Lines and pianist Lina Morita at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts Building.

The program will include works by composers Samuel Barber, Ottorino Respighi, Richard Strauss and Jacques Leguerney.

Lines, assistant professor of music, has sung a number of operatic roles, including Therèse in Poulenc’s “Les Mamelles de Tirésias,” Marie in Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride” and Alice in Verdi’s “Falstaff.”

She has been a guest soloist with the Lake Charles Symphony and Louisiana Choral Foundation, and she has appeared throughout the United States and in Singapore.

Lines is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and her compact disc, “When Hope Still Had Its Chance: The Songs of Keith Gates,” will be released by Centaur Records in January.

Morita, a native of São Paulo, Brazil, has performed in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, France and the Czech Republic. Most recently, she has been invited to present recitals in Mexico City.

Morita, assistant professor of music, has performed recitals and taught master classes at various U.S. colleges and universities.

As a concerto soloist, Morita has performed with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and Virginia, as well as the Lake Charles Symphony and the Washington Sinfonietta, also in Washington, D.C.
